Educating underserved children in Maya communities in Guatemala

STARTS WITH YOU

Maya LaSalle

TEACH started to support this site in 2003. In 2019, TEACH is budgeting total funding for Maya LaSalle of $17,900 allocated to infrastructure, equipment and 6 High School scholarships. The site currently has 139 students in elementary, middle school and high school.

This primary school founded by Fr. Tom Moran and now operated by the Christian Brothers, educates Maya children from El Estor and surrounding villages by holistically interweaving a spiritual component and the arts with classes in language, mathematics, history, and the sciences. To see the excitement and dedication of these students as they learn together under the guidance of caring, devoted, and expert teachers is to feel the hope that education and love can bring.
